Child Therapy

I believe that childrens' difficulties are best addressed through a comprehensive approach that emphasizes the whole child and family, as well as peer relationships and school experiences. I work together with the child and the family to design thoughtful interventions that build upon each child’s strengths while respecting the individuality and needs of each child and parent. I specialize with children of all ages from preschool through elementary, middle, and high school.

Counseling services for children

Our Work Together

For children under 14, the first meeting I schedule is a parent meeting. The purpose of this meeting is for us to get to know each other, discuss the reason for the referral, and gather background information. Sessions last up to 50 minutes.

In the next session, I will meet with you and your child for part of the time and, if your child is comfortable, I will meet with them the remainder of the session alone.

I will then meet with your child for the next 1-2 sessions to get to know them, assess what their strengths and challenges are, and determine how we can move forward in treating challenges.

I may contact your child's school (with your permission) to assist with any school issues.

We will then meet together to create a treatment plan. With children, I utilize a variety of modalities, including art and play, with traditional therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
